Work-Related Experience

  • Store lead, Blue Moon Burgers (South Lake Union branch), Seattle, Washington; 2010-present - take orders from customers, inventory stock and place orders through Food Services of America and other companies, clean front of restaurant daily, serve food to customers, assist in training of new employees, keep restaurant organized, handle money for registers and deposits at the bank, assist in prep cooking in the kitchen, opening and closing duties.
  • On-call sales person for all ages bar, El Corazon (music venue), Seattle, Washington; 2009-present - sell snacks, water and soda to show goers, coat check, light cleaning duties of bar area, assist security during emergency situations involving show goers.
  • Shop helper, Under the Needle Tattoo, Seattle, Washington; 2009-2010 - place stock orders and assisted in inventory, clean every surface of shop daily, setup and break down before and after every tattoo, run errands, scrub tubes and manage disposal of biohazardous waste, assist customers, organize marketing events, assist in construction and building process of new business, provide online marketing through Facebook, website, etc.
  • Barista Volunteer, Boiler Room, Port Townsend, Washington; 2007-2008 - Greet customers, serve espresso orders, and clean.
    • Intern, Swains Decks and Rags, Port Townsend, Washington; September-February, 2005-2006 - Greet customers, assemble skateboards for sale, fix broken skateboards for customers, straighten clothing racks, clean, paint window displays, arrange mannequins, and work at the cash register.
      • Trail Builder, Quilcene Ranger Corps, Quilcene, Washington; June-August 2004 - Member of 8-person trail-building crew that rebuilt eroded trails in the Olympic Peninsula Federal Forests, move gravel from trail heads to needed areas, remove large rocks, prune tree limbs and bushes to expand the trail width, and grade the soil for maximum runoff.
        • Field Worker, Lost Mountain Tree Farm, Sequim, Washington; 1999-2009 - At my family tree farm I plant trees, prune trees, place mulch mats, attach deer protectors, and brush around the trees.
          • Special Education Assistant, Quilcene Middle School, Quilcene, Washington; 2003-2004 - As part of my school program I was chosen to perform duties daily as a one-on-one educational aide for an autistic elementary school student. Through this experience I learned more about how to connect and communicate with diverse people.

            Unique Educational Activities
            • Northwest Passage Expedition, member of 12-person school team that explored the history and culture of Northwest Washington Native American tribes, May 2008 - visited several Northwest Washington tribes, cultural experiences included the honor of sharing a sweat lodge.
              • Thailand Expedition, member of 15-person school team, January 2007 - Taught English in a small remote rural school in Northern Thailand, participated in Thai celebrations, and practiced conversational and written Thai.
                • Puerto Penasco, Environmental Learning Center in Mexico, member of a 10-person school team, January 2006 - conducted environmental surveys, including counts of sea lions off the coast of Mexico.
                  • Urban Plunge, Member of 8-person school team, 2005 - Assisted homeless people in Seattle through hospice and Union Gospel Mission.
                    • 4-H Network News club- Computer and Camera Technology, Photographer/Videographer/Web Designer, 2002-2008 - I use traditional film and digital cameras to take photos for my portfolio; most of these photos consist of portraits, but also landscapes and architectural photos. My reporting for 4-H Network News allowed me to cover stories of local, regional and national interest related to youth, 4-H and WSU.
